That spread is the real story of the anti-aging peptide shelf right now. We price 72 verified vendors, and the longevity compounds carry the widest gaps of anything we track. GHK-Cu ranges from $0.30 to $1.98 per mg. NAD+ runs $0.06 to $0.48. Epitalon sits between $1.75 and $5.50. The molecule at the top of those ranges is the same molecule at the bottom.
So here is our shortlist: four anti-aging peptides with a genuine research base, what each is actually studied for, and where we would send someone to buy. Everything below sells as research material and none of it carries FDA approval for anti-aging use. Talk to your doctor before starting anything.
GHK-Cu has the deepest paper trail
If you buy one thing on this list, our vote goes here. GHK-Cu is a copper tripeptide first isolated from human plasma in 1973, and the volume of published work on it dwarfs the rest of the shelf.
The headline finding comes from Loren Pickart and Anna Margolina's 2018 review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. Gene profiling reported there found GHK shifted expression of 31.2% of human genes by 50% or more, raising expression in 59% of the genes it touched and lowering it in 41%. That is a startlingly broad signature for a three-amino-acid molecule, and it explains why the same compound keeps showing up in skin remodeling, collagen and elastin synthesis, and wound repair research.
Pricing is where GHK-Cu gets interesting. Across the 61 sellers we priced, the median lands at $0.71 per mg while the floor sits at $0.30. Buying at the median means paying roughly double for the identical powder. Epitalon, and the telomere question
Epitalon is a four-amino-acid peptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. The study everyone cites is Khavinson, Bondarev and Butyugov, published in the Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine in 2003: adding Epitalon to cultures of telomerase-negative human fetal fibroblasts induced the telomerase catalytic subunit, raised telomerase activity, and lengthened telomeres.
That result is real and it is also narrow. It happened in a dish, most of the follow-up work traces back to the same research group, and human clinical evidence remains thin. Epitalon is the most interesting hypothesis on this list and the least settled, and we would say so to anyone who asked.
At $1.75 to $5.50 per mg across 48 sellers, the spread here is tighter than GHK-Cu but the absolute dollars are higher. Median is $3.30. The Epitalon vendor rankings show the full board.
MOTS-c works through your mitochondria
MOTS-c earns its spot on mechanism. Lee and colleagues described it in Cell Metabolism in 2015: a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded inside the mitochondrial 12S rRNA, which inhibits the folate cycle, drives AICAR accumulation, and activates AMPK. Skeletal muscle appears to be the main target tissue. In mice on a high-fat diet, five days of injected MOTS-c prevented the obesity and insulin resistance the control animals developed.
Keep that in proportion. It is mouse data on a metabolic endpoint, and the "exercise in a vial" framing you see around MOTS-c runs well ahead of what has been shown in people.
MOTS-c is also where sloppy shopping costs the most. The board runs $1.92 to $13.90 per mg with a $4.75 median across 51 sellers, so the difference between a good buy and a careless one is real money. Compare them on the MOTS-c board.
NAD+ is the cheapest item here and the most argued about
NAD+ costs $0.06 to $0.48 per mg across 45 sellers, median $0.13. It is the least expensive compound we price in this category by a wide margin.
The premise behind it is that NAD+ falls as we age. Massudi and colleagues found exactly that in 2012, measuring human skin samples from 49 people and reporting a strong negative correlation between NAD+ and age. Then in 2021, Peluso and colleagues published a review in Nutrients pushing back on how settled that consensus really is, noting that in humans "the development of NAD+ levels during aging is still poorly characterized" and that the field leans on small cross-sectional studies.

July moved the paperwork forward
On July 23 and 24, 2026, the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed seven peptides for the 503A bulks list and recommended six of them, including MOTS-c and Epitalon. GHK-Cu goes before the committee before the end of February 2027.
These recommendations are advisory. The FDA still has to act through formal rulemaking, so nothing about compounding eligibility has changed yet. It is a meaningful step in a slow process, and we cover the mechanics in our FDA peptide reclassification writeup.

Our take
Start with GHK-Cu. It has the most published work behind it, the cheapest entry point of anything with a comparable evidence base, and the widest price spread, which means careful shopping pays off immediately. MOTS-c is the most mechanistically compelling and the one to watch as human data arrives. Epitalon is a fascinating open question. NAD+ is cheap enough that the whole decision collapses to picking a good seller.
